Su-min Song, Team Leader of Nspace
Please tell us about the company and the provided services.
We are Nspace, a company operating the space-sharing platform "SpaceCloud", a social venture with the aim of minimizing unused space and revitalizing space.
We started out by planning and operating a direct offline space. Now, we’ve developed a space cloud service that supports the reservation and activation of 13,000 teams of space operators across the nation, with around 600,000 users. SpaceCloud is a life space platform that allows you to easily search and reserve spaces such as meeting spaces, party rooms, and event venues. The more SpaceCloud services that are developed, the less unused space there would be, and the users will be able to enjoy the city in various spaces.
Why did you choose the NAVER Cloud Platform?
The fact that it possesses stable services and a high level of user convenience all at a reasonable price was very important for a start-up.
The most important things for a growing start-up business are stability and scalability. Since it’s difficult to establish both aspects with the in-house server, we had a clear goal of using the cloud services to develop our services. As we compared cloud services that fit the global market, we prioritized high usability that can offer stable and convenient communication for hands-on workers. That was why we chose the NAVER Cloud Platform.
What NAVER Cloud Platform services are you currently using and what help have you had since using it?
We're currently using Server, NAS, and Object Storage. With Object Storage in particular, we were able to use big data without any capacity limitations.
Mass media data such as records and images needed for global music businesses has increased, therefore we needed a mass storage service that could handle this. Object Storage could be used by providing HTTP/HTTPS protocol and has the benefit of being able to be used without limitations to capacity. Currently, we’ve categorized data according to characteristics such as hot/warm data with high access frequency into NAS and cold data with low access frequency.
What are the distinctive features or advantages of NAVER Cloud Platform?
NAVER Cloud Platform provides smooth customer support for solving problems and issues, and offers services at a reasonable price.
NAVER Business Platform’s headquarters is in Korea and most of its employees are Korean, which offers advantages regarding communication and technical support. For other cloud platforms, there were several difficulties with having their headquarters abroad. Solving problems was often inefficient, taking more than a day or two to sometimes more than a week. This was even limited to customers that apply for paid technical support services. However, NAVER Cloud Platform allowed all customers to receive high-quality technical support without additional cost, unlike other platforms that charged 10% of the user fee. Another advantage of NAVER Cloud Platform is its free security service, Basic Security.
What kind of services do you want to provide using the NAVER Cloud Platform in the future?
We want to expand into Asian markets with a developed space-sharing market, such as Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
First, we want to stably expand SpaceCloud, which is currently doubling every year. We also want to become the number one space-sharing platform in Korea. Ideally within the next 3 years, we’d like to expand into Asian markets with developed space-sharing markets such as Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong. We want to take on this challenge with the open possibility of expanding into the global market with domestic headquarters just as LINE has done.
Also, we wish to be more than just a service simply for reserving space, rather the one that can connect communities of the region and offer services such as rental management and membership spaces, developing into the most prominent platform in the prop-tech market by becoming a company that innovates real-estate society based on its service.
