Please tell us about your company and the provided services.
Deep Medi owns an amazing technology that can estimate various types of health information, including a user’s heart rate, stress level, and blood pressure, based on the information received via a smartphone camera.
From the user’s fingerprint video recorded with a smartphone camera for about thirty seconds, we can determine the change of blood flow, which is invisible to the human eye. The AI algorithm then infers a variety of health information from the blood flow variation. Because we can estimate a variety of health information with just the user’s smartphone, healthcare, IoT, and insurance companies are showing a great deal of interest in Deep Medi’s technology. Deep Medi supplies this technology to businesses in the form of an API. Any company can conveniently apply Deep Medi's technology to its services simply by calling the API provided by Deep Medi.
Why did you choose the NAVER Cloud Platform ?
We decided to go with the NAVER Cloud Platform because it provided an optimal environment for Deep Medi’s services. It was also because we were eligible for direct technical support for operating Deep Medi's services thanks to their LIGHT HOUSE program.
After successfully attracting an investment from Naver at the early stage of the business, we had finally built our first nest at Naver D2SF. At the time, we had made an internal decision to upload Deep Medi’s technology to a cloud platform. But we were still debating over which platform to choose. Naturally, I asked a number of people in AI startups that had moved into D2SF for their opinions and found out that most were using the NAVER Cloud Platform. After looking further into the platform for ourselves, we saw that they had an adequate environment, complete with API Gateways, GPU Servers, and Cloud DBs. For someone like me, who does not have experience in building systems, the fact that Korean staff could provide detailed technical support for implementing the service seemed to be a fascinating deal. As a result, we have been satisfied so far in utilizing the NAVER Cloud Platform service. There once was a connection error late at night, because I didn’t configure the server settings properly. Still, I managed to successfully perform the next day's business demonstration thanks to the prompt customer support from the NAVER Cloud Platform.
The day before an important technology demonstration in the early stages of the business, there was a time when I was working in a hurry and messed up the server settings so badly that I couldn't connect to the cloud server. It was a simple process to connect a block storage to the server, and I still have no idea how such a problem even occurred. It was late at night, after 11 PM, and I was frustrated when I thought about what I was going to do for the next day's demonstration. I even thought I should just run away. Then, in my desperation, I made an inquiry to the NAVER Cloud Platform, thinking maybe I might be clutching at straws. To my surprise, I got a call from the engineer in charge, even at that late hour, and I was able to bring the server back to operation with his help. I could successfully save the next day's business demonstration that way.
