Please tell us about the Green Technology Center.
The Green Technology Center is operating the National Climate Technology Information System (CTis) as an agency specialized in the research of green technology policies affiliated with the Ministry of Science and ICT.
CTis is an integrated information portal that provides information on climate technology and supports global cooperation projects. As a National Designated Entity (NDE) in charge of cooperation in the field of climate technology at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Ministry of Science and ICT is working to transfer Korean technology to developing countries and promote overseas projects to contribute to solving the problem of climate change, which is one of the greatest modern problems for humans. Green Technology Center is preparing a new climate system by systematically collecting climate technology-related information from Korea and overseas and providing this information to relevant companies and institutions. We are also in charge of operating the National Climate Technology Information System for the purpose of promoting development of domestic technology and transferring it overseas.
When did you first discover the NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM and how did you decide to use it?
We started reviewing the adoption of private cloud services as a part of a government project to promote cloud services in the public sector. We chose the NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM after deciding that it was most appropriate for the CTis.
Currently, the government is carrying out a project to promote cloud services in the public sector. Since building infrastructure under a cloud environment is encouraged when carrying out information-oriented projects, we are always reviewing the adoption of private cloud services when building new systems. I took charge of building the Climate Technology Information System since 2017, and an internal review was conducted to adopt a private cloud, since Green Technology Center is a research agency affiliated with the Ministry of Science and ICT. At the time, there were three companies, including the NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM that were approved by the government. We chose the NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM, as it was deemed to be the most suitable for the system building environment of CTis.
How has the service improved with the NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM?
As a research agency affiliated with the government, information security is key. Now we can provide relevant information to users more safely.
Since we are a government-contributed research agency, we focus more on data security. So, as our data grows, a safe method to protect this data is really important. With the NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM service, we are receiving detailed reports of attempted attacks on our system server with analysis of the number of detected attempts. The report is provided in a weekly and monthly report and we can easily see our security status each week.
What is the service strategy pursued by Green Technology Center?
As an information system for both domestic and foreign users, CTis aims to be accessible to overseas users.
We are planning to expand data and advance features on a continuing basis, so that CTis can become an important foundation for gaining information for agencies that promote climate-related projects. Although the incoming traffic from abroad is small at the moment, we must create a system and operate in a global service environment, because the purpose of the CTis is to support overseas advancement of technology and support international cooperation. Therefore, we are planning to enable a stable service in a global environment, by diagnosing and adjusting the cloud infrastructure depending on need. I hope that various information from the CTis can be provided to users even more safely and conveniently and that the NAVER CLOUD PLATFORM will continue to be a useful tool in the future to make our strategy possible.
